Microsoft Announces Zune / Phone intentions

It has just come out that Microsoft has every intention to release either a Zune that is a phone or to further extend the functionality of their Windows Mobile operating system by adding Zune software to it.

This is big on several levels as there is a reasonably large number (Millions at a minimum) of WinMo based devices out there that would likely be able to run any future possible Zune software.  This basically takes a HUGE shot at Apple and the overhyped iPhone.

As a user of an HTC Touch that is running Windows Mobile 6.1, I am VERY excited by this possibility.  I am very happy with my phone and having Zune software functionality on it would just be awesome.  I have always thought that there was a major opportunity in all of the WinMo phones out there and I guess I was not the only one!!!
