I got Lost in the Triangle :)

Been gone for a bit.  I was off in Bermuda on a cruise but now I am back.

One thing that I had the opportunity to play around with while away was the RAW mode on my Panasonic Lumix FZ-18.  We went into the limestone caves on the island and I was shooting with the camera set to RAW+JPEG.  Boy oh boy was I glad that I did that!  When I got back to the ship, I offloaded the pictures and was looking at the RAW vs. the JPEG and as much as I knew there was going to be a difference, was I ever not ready for how big.

As you may have noticed, I have never posted pictures on my site, but I will make it a point to post the cave pictures so that the difference in RAW vs JPEG can be seen.

Why the Internet (And tech) ROCKS...

I watched the video of Susan Boyle yesterday in the afternoon and then read what is already up on her Wikipedia entry.  Google shows over 3 million hits for “Susan Boyle” Britains.  Going back and totalling up her YouTube views on the first page of hits for her name when sorted by most views puts her total as of 12:30am GMT, 04/17/2009 at in excess of 20,000,000.  All this and the performance was only on the air On April 11th.  A measly 5 days now!!!

Microsoft and their new ads

Well, there are now finally some ads to combat the Apple PC vs. Mac ads.  Microsoft has decided to start what looks like a “real” ad campaign.  I have been listening to and reading the commentary from around the internet and it is all over the board.  The one note of guarantee was from the die-hard Mac crowd.  They HATE, H A T E, these ads.

TV Content Delivery Foolishness

Well, the crap that has gone on today (let alone in the last year or so) has just pushed me over the edge.  Hulu is at it again trying to keep their content out of the livingroom, Rogers Cable has now joined the American Cable Cos and started compressing the crap out of its channels and StarChoice has now ended their “Home Away From Home” program!  Is there anything else that they all collectively want to do to push more and more subscribers away?

Steve Jobs' 6 Months Off

All I have to say about the fact that Mr. Jobs being this ill is that I genuinely hope that he fairs well and gets better soon.

As for what impact that man has on Apple, the best thing said was by the folks at Overclockers.Com.  The comments were made before what is now known and now have more bite than ever.

Hate Kevin Rose???

I believe this is an unfortunate symptom of his fame but it is a little excessive to go on about potentially hating or “hating” Kevin Rose.  If anything, he is quickly deserved of a little bit of “Aha!!!”  pointed his way.  I think he is a bit scatterbrained with things and that projects like Pounce were foolish to pursue.  However, the only people that have a genuine right to hate him are those that are losing their jobs due to his scattershot thoughs.
