BeyondPod 3 Weeks Later...

Well, after 3+ weeks of using BeyondPod, I can confidently say that this is a phenomenal app.  I have found it so much more convenient to have all of my podcasts downloaded directly to my phone, that I have had to add back in some podcasts that I had once given up on as I could never get the time to copy them manually to the phone.  Using BeyondPod has me caught up on my podcasts almost continuously.

Again, I cannot say enough good about this application.

Podcasts to your WinMo

For the last 2 years I have been listening to a lot of podcasts. It started with TWiT.TV and grew from there. I listen to at least 6 different shows a week while driving to and from work or while doing things where I can listen and still concentrate.  For that whole time, the biggest frustration has been getting the downloaded shows onto my device of choice in a reasonable amount of time from when they are posted and downloaded.  No more.

Who buys Windows Mobile???

I love Leo Laporte and many of the others out there but as I was listening to the latest Windows Weekly, I caught Leo quipping about how few people must be buying Windows Mobile Devices.  Well, given that HTC sell 10s of millions of phones every year and they only make WinMo based phones, I would respond to Leo with LOADS!  They are also not the only company making WinMo devices.

Why Hate Windows Mobile???

In the last few days, I have heard several podcasts that have just beat up on Windows Mobile.  I really do not understand why.  I plan on commenting more on this but I really feel that it is not warranted or at the least, it is being exaggerated greatly.

Microsoft vs. RIM

Engadget Mobile picked up on a story about the possibility of Microsoft taking advantage of the market conditions and buying Research In Motion (RIM) (Not the first time this rumor has floated around either), the makers of the all popular Blackberry.  I have been thinking about this for the last few days…

Firefox for Windows Mobile

For whatever screwed up reason, Microsoft never bothered to put a full browser into Windows Mobile, EVER.  Even the latest WinMo version 6.1 does not have a good browser.  The only alternative out there has been Opera Mobile.  It is not bad but it does not support as many of the Web 2.0 features out there when viewing pages in normal desktop browser mode.  Opera Mobile 9.5 beta is a major step up from version 8.65 but it is still a bit problematic.

Microsoft Announces Zune / Phone intentions

It has just come out that Microsoft has every intention to release either a Zune that is a phone or to further extend the functionality of their Windows Mobile operating system by adding Zune software to it.
